Bear & Box
I’ve had quite a few people ask me about whats in the box, so I’m going to give a quick explanation.
Lets forget the box for the moment and concentrate on why I started the cartoon. I was still feeling pretty down about my pet rabbits dying after a fox got into our garden and I wanted to somehow illustrate my emotions. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever tried.
The rabbits, when not in the garden lived in a big brick shed/outhouse at the bottom of the garden. When the door to that building was shut that meant the rabbits were in bed or ‘in for the night’. Since their deaths, the shed door has been shut.
As long as that door is shut, they’re safe and sound. I can imagine them being cosy and silly in their little wooden house within the safe brick structure.
Thats the box for me. It’s a safely sealed idea of hope and love, with all the problems that come with it.
Anyway, not much else I can say on that I guess. You can put whatever you like in the box. Wether that be love, a lost relationship, your best friend or pet or even Gwyneth Paltrow’s head.
Whats in my box

That’s it. I’m done with the day job. I’m now a self employed artist.
On with business then.
I’ve been doing a lot of Benbear illustrations recently, they’ve proven quite popular. Here’s a recent one that I’m quite proud of.
And I’ve also done a few variations of this, including some other animals.
These have all been commissioned and drawn through my ‘doodles to go’ offer.
I’ll be fiddling around with the site quite a bit over the coming weeks and hopefully create an easier to browse gallery and make it clearer how to purchase my work.
Thanks again to all the support and words of encouragement.

Right, hello. I had a pretty good nights sleep after yesterday’s life changing decision. I woke up proper excited and full of hope.
I made it all official by talking to HR about owed holiday and P45’s and stuff. Phew.
Anyway, let me tell you all about a few of my ideas and plans.
I’d like to put a lot more focus into greetings cards. I think a lot of my doodles would suit it quite well and I’ll even work on some occasion specific cards. I think Valentines will be a big one for me.
I’m still enjoying doing the ‘doodles to go’. I love working on drawings every day and giving people ‘originals’ is still a thrill.
With that in mind I still want to introduce prints.
I’m planning on doing some limited runs of a few designs. They may be familiar doodles of mine but with added details, colours and backgrounds.
My website should be going through a bit of a overhaul, I’d like to make the ordering process a littler easier.
T-shirts and totes will be getting more designs monthly. If you have design in mind please say, I may even start a poll to help decide what gets made next.
Shops. I’ll be able to announce a couple of shops in Kent that will be sticking my wares soon and if you would like to sell my stuff (wherever you may be) please get in touch.
I think that’s it for the quick run down.
As always, feedback and comments are always very welcome. You can reply to me here, through twitter (@ben_cameron) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Today I handed in my notice at work. I’ll be leaving at the end of November.
I’ll be a proper arty creative man thing.
It was a tough decision but one I needed to make sooner than later. I was waiting for the ‘right time’ but I don’t think there was ever going to be one.
I want to thank everyone that has been supportive of my work up to now and an extra special thank you to everyone who has purchased something of mine.
You’ve given me the confidence to do this and convinced me that I’m not completely delusional with what I do.
